The official length of
the yo-yo string depends on how tall you are. Hold you hand with
the yo-yo tied to your finger at belly button level. Release the
yo-yo. Does it fall just above the floor? It’s the right length.
If not you will need to trim the excess string. But remember to
keep an extra three inches for your finger loop.
To get the best performance
from your yo-yo, place your finger over the wind groove and wind
the string over your finger for the first turn, then under your
finger until it’s completed.
Hold the yo-yo in your
hand, palm up, string on middle finger. The string should be positioned
so it’s coming off the top of the yo-yo, not underneath it.
Remember, like
any other sport it will take time to master it, so relax and just
have fun.
