YOUR TASTE, BUD?

Fast Facts About Taste...
- Newborn
babies have more taste buds than adults.
- The
number of taste buds in humans and animals vary greatly. A whale
has few or no taste buds at all. Cows have about 35,000 taste
buds, and an antelope has 50,000. Humans only have a mere 10,000.
- The
tongue is more sensitive to touch, temperature and pain than any
other part of the body.
- There
are animals that have taste buds on their bodies. Some fish can
taste with their tail fins.
- Extremely
bitter flavors are added to electrical insulating materials. This
is to keep mice and rats from chewing on them.
- All
foods don't taste alike to all people. Maybe that's why some people
think spinach is tasty and others don't.
- Don't
be surprised if your cat doesn't like sweets. Cats can't taste
the sweetness of sugar.
- Sometimes
your taste preferences are based on your body's needs. Maybe that
sudden craving for an orange is a message from your body to get
some more vitamin C.
