NOTES FROM THE DOGHOUSE Woof Woof Krumbs here Did Cookie tell you? She got a camera. It’s digital and takes pictures really fast. Cookie said we are going to have a lot of fun with it. Plus, she said she’d even take some pictures of me too. I don’t know about you, but I love having my picture taken. I think I should have been a movie star. Then people would always want my picture. I would sign them too. That’s called an autograph. Or in my case, a paw-a-graph Woof Woof That’s all for now, gotta go and let Cookie practice taking my picture. Lots of Licks, Krumb Woof Woof to You! I’m all clean and shiny thanks to Cookie. I really didn’t want to have a bath, but I knew it was for my own good. How ‘bout you? Do you like to have a bath? Cookie gave me some super-snacks for being such a good dog. I LOVE my snacks. And even though my name is Krumbs, I didn’t leave a single one behind. Woof Woof Yum. Until next time… Lots of Licks, Krumb Woof Woof Everyone. Super-Sniffer-Flea-Investigator-Krumbs Here; Guess what I found out about fleas? One Mommy flea can lay up to 2000 eggs in her lifetime – that’s a lot of baby fleas. Plus, they like to bite dogs! Woof Yikes! If I get bitten by even one flea it will make me very itchy and scratchy. But don’t worry flea bites don’t usually harm an animal, unless they get waaaay too many. I, however, am not going to let that happen. Before I roll around on the nice soft grass, Cookie is going to bathe me in a special shampoo just for keeping fleas away. Even though I don’t really like having a bath, this is way better than having those pesky pests bopping around on me. That’s all for now, it’s time for my better-than-having-fleas-bath. Until next time…lots of licks, Krumbs Woof Woof Krumbs here How are you today? I’ve just been lazing around. I watched a bird grab a mouthful of dried out grass and fly away with it. I guess it’s making a nest somewhere. I’m sure glad I don’t have to build a nest. It seems like so much work. Plus, it would be cold and wet when it rains. No thanks. I prefer the comforts of lounging in the sun on my extra soft pillow, not a pile of twigs. Woof Ahh. I think I’ll go test out my pillow right now. Lots of licks, Krumb Woof Woof Everyone. Krumb here. It’s spring time. I love spring. The ground gets very smelly this time of year. You probably don’t notice a difference, but with my super-sniffer, Woof Weeeeee I can smell a ton of things. I can smell the budding leaves and all the birds be-bopping around on the lawn looking for stuff to build their nests out of. Have you helped the birds out yet? Check out Cookie’s Blog. She has all sorts of ideas there. I even helped out the birds. I let them have some of my loose hair. Cookie brushed me then took all the hair out and placed it on the grass and around the trees. Soon a robin bounced over, grabbed a clump in its beak, and flew up into the tree. Woof Woof, it was fun. Watch for birds building their nests around your house or park. Lots of Licks, Krumb Woof Woof Everyone. Krumb here. We went to the Café today. It was dusty and needed our help. Cookie straightened and I dusted off the articles with my tail. Some of the recipes were mixed up and the quizzes had slid to the floor. Woof-wee. What a job. But we’re finished and everything looks great. I’m a bit dirty, but that’s okay, I don’t mind. Cookie on the other paw… Ohh ooh, there she is now. I just know she’s going to give me a bath. I can hear the water running in the tub. Gotta run! Have a woof-underful day. Lots of Licks, Krumbs Woof Woof. Krumbs here. Easter day was a woofing good time. I found 11 eggs (I actually found 30, but I left some for Cookie. Shh don’t tell her). They were hidden all over the place – behind rocks, in the flowers, even high up in the trees. I couldn’t get that one, since I can’t climb trees. Cookie did. She climbed up like a monkey, then stood on the branch waving at me. Wooof-woof-arf. I was so scared she might fall. Since I can’t eat chocolate, Cookie got me these yummy pretend chocolate bones made just for dogs. Woof-woof-woof They were so good I ate a huge pile. But unlike cookie I didn’t get a sick. Have a woof-underful day Lots of Licks Krumb Woof Woof Everyone. Krumbs here. It’s Easter once again. That means time for Easter eggs. WooHoo-Woof. I’m the best at finding Easter eggs. Cookies calls it my super-sniffer and it’s true. I just follow my nose to all those yummy eggs. The only problem is I can’t eat any – chocolate is so bad for dogs. My friend Jessie once ate a piece of chocolate. Wooof-woof-arf was he sick. What do you do for Easter? Whatever it is, make sure you don’t eat too much candy. Cookie sometimes does, even though I tell her too much is bad news. Have a woof-underful day Lots of Licks, Krumbs April Fool’s How’s it going everybody? It’s Krumbs. The last time I was here I was excited about going to Mexico. Guess what? I didn’t get to go. I was feeling a bit under the weather and Cookie didn’t think I should travel so far. So I had to stay with the neighbours. It was fine. They gave me lots of dog cookies cause they knew I was sad. June 13 How's it going everybody? This is Krumbs here. What's up with me? Check it out! Yeah! Summer's finally here. That means that Cookie can spend more time with me! Games of fetch all day long! That's what I call a perfect day. And what's more perfect than going to Mexico on smmer vacation? Especially at a hotel where dogs are allowed. Cookie's whole family is coming, along with her aunt's greyhound, Jessie. Jessie and I are like best friends, so I am really looking forward to this vacation. My birthday is coming up, and I am almost positive tha Cookie is cooking some sort of surprise up. I've noticed that she's been gone from the cafe a little more than usual. She's probably buying invitations and balloons and all that party stuff. I know that my birthday is going to be great! Hi! It's me, Krumbs. So what's going on with me? Check it out! I know my blog is called "Notes from the Doghouse", but I've actually never even had a doghouse until yesterday. Cookie built me the best doghouse you've ever seen! It's made out of wooden boards painted yellow, has an awesome red roof, and is super cozy. Plus, she put some big fluffy pillows inside so I'd be super comfortable. Thanks a bunch, Cookie! Cookie took me to her work at the Animal Shelter the other day. It was kind of sad to see how many abandoned dogs and cats were there. But it was really cool to talk to them and ask them about their lives. Some of them were born strays. Others were abused by their owners and rescued by the Animal Shelter. Want to know how you can help our furry friends? Then contact your local shelter. Woof! It's Krumbs, your favorite Cafe Canine. What's up with me? Check it out! Mr. Groundhog saw his shadow yesterday. Personally, I'm glad that we have more winter. More winter means more snow, and like I said before, I love snow. But, I'm not always sure I believe in Groundhog's Day. I mean, there are other ways to tell when the warmer weather is coming. Like I'm starting to shed my winter coat. I'm pretty sure Mr. Groundhog was wrong. Cookie took me to a museum the other day. I started drooling. You can probably guess why-bones. Lots of them. From T-Rex bones to mouse bones, that museum had it all. That had to have been the best museum trip of my life. Chat with you later! Lots of licks, Krumbs January 10 Bark, bark! Krumbs here. So, what's up with me? Check it out! As it turns out, that mysterious bone i told you about isn't a dino bone. Bummer. Cookie told me that last year (which wasn't that long ago...Happy New Year!) she'd given me a steak bone for a treat. I ate the steak and then buried the bone. I guess I'd forgotten. So it wasn't a T-Rex...but a T-bone! Cookie and I had a New Year's party. It was so great. My best buds came, and so did Cookie's. And Cookie and I had the house decorated very well, if I do say so myself. Even my doghouse was covered in streamers. We all watched movies until a couple minutes to midnight. Then, we counted down to the New Year, and watched the ball (I love balls!) drop. When we got to "1", everyone cheered. All the best, Krumbs December 20 Bow wow! It's me, Krumbs. Want to know what's cooking with me? Check it out! Ahhhh! The holidays! My favorite time of the year. Presents from Cookie and my pals, time to play in the snow. Snow. White, glittery, cold stuff that stretches as far as the eye can see (and farther than the nose can sniff)! It's fantastic. there's soooo much you can do with snow, whether it's build forts, have a snowball fight, make a snowdog, or just romp in it. Snow is the best part of this time of year. The other day, I was digging through the white stuff when I found a very unusual bone. I mean, it wasn't the kind of bone that I usually chew on. It kind of looked like a DINOSAUR bone. i really think that I'm on to something! Lots of licks, Krumbs
November 12 Bark, Bark! It's me, your favorite Cafe canine, Krumbs. So, what's going on with me, you ask? Check it out! First off, I'm digging my friendship with that other dog I told you about. As it turns out, we have a lot in common. For instance, we both have nice owners, good looks...and we both love Cookie's dog treats. The other day it rained. And I'm not just talking about your average little sprinkle. I'm talking about an absolute downpour. You might think that's a drag, but truth is, I love rainy days. Sloshing around in puddles, rolling around in the mud, and the pitter-patter of rain on the roof. So, before I knew it, I was running outside with my new best bud, getting soaking wet, and--you guessed it--rolling around in the mud. I don't think Cookie was too happy to see me so wet and dirty, but I got a nice warm bath anyway. Cheers! November 6 Woof, woof! It’s me, Krumbs. Want to know what’s going on? Check it out! The other day, Cookie made me this delicious bone-shaped cookie. It was sooo good that I swallowed it whole. I’ve got some good news. There’s this horse that Cookie really wants. Its name is Midnight. Guess what? She’s selling dog treats to try to get enough money to buy her. The treats that she doesn’t sell go to me. Yeah! Cookie took me for a walk around the neighborhood yesterday. I saw this new dog sitting in his yard. He looked kind of lonely. So, I decided to go and say hello to him. He was happy to have some company, and in only a few minutes we were playing like best buds. I can't wait to hang out with him some more. Who knows? Maybe I’ll even share my extra dog treats with him!
