| Surprise
your family by dishing up this classic entrée with
a twist—instead of opening a box, you’re starting
from scratch. Mac and cheese is an easy, delicious meal: just
remember to ask an adult for help when using the stove!
Ingredients:
- 1/4
teaspoons butter
- 7 teaspoons all purpose flour
- 1 1/3 cups milk
- 8 ounces grated cheddar cheese (2 cups)
- 1 box (7 to 8 ounces) dried macaroni
- Salt and pepper to taste
- In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat.
Put in the flour and cook the mixture, stirring for 3 minutes.
Add the milk in a stream, while still stirring. Bring the
mixture to a boil and simmer (on lower heat) for 3 minutes.
- Stir in the cheese and cook until the cheese
is melted.
- Cook the macaroni according to package
instructions and drain well. Combine with the cheese mixture,
and add salt and pepper to taste.
- Carefully spoon the cheesy pasta onto plates
while it’s still piping hot.
- Serve with broccoli for a well-rounded
meal.
