Actoress Spencer Grammer
You may know actress Spencer Grammer from her ABC Family series, Greek, which is now in its fourth year. She plays sorority girl, Casey Cartwright. Spencer came from a family of performers, but had not originally intended to get into acting as she had other plans.
Spencer was born in New York City, October 9, 1983 to dance instructor Doreen Alderman and legendary television actor, Kelsey Grammer of Cheers and Frasier. Her parents at that time were Broadway performers. They moved to Los Angeles as Kelsey continued his stint on Cheers; her parents officially divorced when she was 9. Spencer enjoyed visiting her father’s sets and even did a guest role on Cheers as a little girl at a birthday party. She fell in love with acting and won roles in her performing arts high school. However, she also, from her mothers’ influence, became a dancer and performed ballet for over ten years. She also did hip hop and jazz and performed in a hip hop dance video in her teens.
Her parents made sure she did not take anything for granted, and Spencer was told that if she wanted things, she would have to earn money on her own instead of easily being given money. So she worked in bookstores and coffee shops to earn a wage. Yes, even Hollywood offspring are working in regular summer jobs!
She attended Marymount Manhattan College. Unsure if she could pursue an acting career, she decided to major in art history (since she said she would have loved working in a museum) and do acting on the side. She won guest roles in Los Angeles and New York City. She eventually switched to theatre and told herself she would give herself three years to establish an acting career. Fortunately, she won a role on As The World Turns in 2006, and two weeks after her stint ended, she auditioned for a role on Greek and has been on Greek ever since.

- She has a half-sister, Greer, who was Miss Teen Malibu 2008 and 2009.

- Spencer’s hobbies include knitting, yoga, pilates, and making travel collages.
- Her naturally brown hair was dyed honey-blonde for her role in Greek to distinguish her from her brunette costars. She also had dyed in black, red, and platinum blonde through the years.
- She once owned an alpaca named Frasier.
